Pirates!

Recently released info on the pirate hijack - Military officials say that the pirates are going to be paid the damanded ransom. Originally rumored of being 35 million dollars , lowered to 20 million. However, the amount being paid is still not conclusive, nor is who is paying this large sum of money.

The boat is cargoing Soviet-era tanks, tank artillery shells, grenade launchers and small arms.
And is being held off the coast of Somalia. Its 25 man crew and well the boat, obviously, have been held by the pirates since September 25th. The captian of the ship died of a heart attack days after the hijacking though. So his body is being stored in a BIG freezer on board to delay decompistion.

The ransom was close to being paid weeks ago. But, is never went through so the ship is still under pirate control.

The U.S. navy has been trailing the ship for weeks now, just to make sure that the boat isnt unloaded on the coast of Somalia. Remember, the boat is filled with tanks and such, so those weapons getting in the wrong hands would be no good.

Foot in the brain?? waTT!!

Earlier this week, in Colorado, one of the strangest cases in medical history occurred. A fully grown foot was found in the brain of a 3 year old baby infant. Dr. Paul Grabb, said he was certainly surprised when he found a full grown baby foot inside the brain of young Sam Esquibel.

"The foot literally popped out of the brain," Grabb said. This appendage obviously threatened young Sam's life. "I've never seen anything like it before," Grabb said. "It looked like the breach delivery of a baby coming out of the brain."

Not only a foot was found in the brain, though. A still developing thigh, hand and another foot, along with parts of an intestine in the folds of the infant's tiny brain.

The reason for the strange growth was not clear at first. It was thought to be a teratome, a brain tumor made of tissue such as muscle, teeth or hair. Or a fetus in fetu, which is a abnormality in which a fetal twin begins to form within the other.

After undergoing extensive surgery, the tumor foot, was removed. However, Grabb stated that the tumor could potentially come back, so he'll need to be until careful watch, for years to come. Other then that, little Sam is doing well, and the mother calls him a "miracle child!".

First U.S. FACE transplant!

About two weeks ago, the first U.S. face transplant occurred. Yes, that's right, FACE transplant.

This surgery was to replace nearly 80% of a womans face. This including bone, teeth, muscle, nerves, and blood vessels. The woman getting the face transplant, had taken severe facial trauma. However, they didn't release the reason why she had gotten this much damage. But, they did say, that the damage was so sever she had lost an eye, nearly her whole nose, and her upper jaw and couldn't smile properly anymore. She had lost her ability to breathe, smell, and taste.

This was the first operation of this kind in the U.S. However, this was only the fourth to happen in the world. The first worldwide took place in France, 2005, where a woman had been so badly damaged by her dog, that she need a new face. In 2006, Chinese doctors replaced the face of a man, who had been mauled badly be a bear. And again in 2007, another French team did a transplant on a who suffered from von Recklinghausen disease, which deforms the face.

To no surprise, this procedure causes some kinda of controversy. People are saying that because a facial wound is not life threatening that a whole new face is unnecessary. And, that its like steal another persons face. Which it sorta is.

I have to disagree with those people though. Because, I think that this procedure could potentially bring a safe heaven for people with facial deformities. To all those people who are made fun of by everyday society, who are to afraid to step out their front door because of the ridicule they receive. This procedure could potentially help a lot of people.

Obama's inaugural choice sparks outrage

Wednesday, president-elect Barack Obama, chose pastor Rick Warren to deliver the invocation at the presidential inauguration next month. This of course sparking controversy between many gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender members of our country. Because, Rick Warren does not have the same views on these groups, and believes the should not have the rights to same-sex marriage.
"By inviting Rick Warren to your inauguration, you have tarnished the view that gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Americans have a place at your table," Joe Solmonese, president of the Human Rights campaign, wrote to Obama earlier this week.

Rick Warren, might not have the same views of Obama, but he was chosen for his active role in America. These roles being championing on issues such as a reduction of global poverty, human rights abuses and the AIDS epidemic. And, not to mention being one of the most influential pastors in America. He's the leader of his church, with over 20,000 people who attend weekly. And, in 2005 was on Time magazines 25 most influential evangelicals. This guy clearly has the stuff.

His views on gay marriage however is not the only thing that sparked outrage throughout many social groups of America. So, did his views on abortion. Like every Christian, he believes it needs to be stopped completely. Not to be just a "safe and rare" procedure.

Personally, I think this is all a load of bullshit. To be 100% honest, just because Obama picks someone with different views then him to do his invocation at his inaugural speech, doesn't mean he simple changed his views on these subjects. The man was picked for his influence, not his views. People need to cry harder, and get over it. I'm personally tired of hearing all this crap about gay rights and same-sex marriage. It's not going to happen. Marriage is a church and religious title. This issue has been raised on many different occasions. I think its just needs to come to an end.
